Less than 5... Chocolate Biscuits...

For when you're short on time and ingredients this weeks less than 5 (ingredients) are the following delicious chocolatey biscuits...

You will need: (makes 12-15 biscuits)

  1. 8 oz Self Raising Flour
  2. 4 oz Granulated Sugar
  3. 4 oz Margarine
  4. 2 oz Cocoa Powder

and ingredient number 5.... anything you'd like to put in your biscuits e.g. Smarties, Choc Chunks, Cranberries, Walnuts, Coconut - no more than 2oz required

How to make...

  • Preheat oven to 190'c or 170'c if oven is fan assisted
  • Pop all the ingredients (except the chunks/fruit/nuts) into a bowl and knead into a rough dough - if it's a bit stiff add more marg until it's nice and pliable
  • Now add in your chunks and gently knead until incorporated
  • Roll small golf balls and place on a floured tray and flatten with your hand until approx 1cm
  • OR- leave out the extra lumpy bits and you can roll out the dough and use any cutter you like to make shapes (as I have here)
  • Bake in the centre or top of the oven for 15 mins, test and if quite springy at 15 bake for a further 3mins
  • Allow to cool on tray when they will harden off a bit more
  • Decorate or leave as they are - store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks

I've also used some buttercream and sandwiched them together for an extra treat x
