Choo Choo Choo...

A family outing to Toddington Station in order to see some really useful engines was the best fun we've had out as a family unit, newest little man is at that gurgly giggly stage and big little man was just enthralled with everything he saw, he had four train rides and one bus ride (he didn't really drive I promise). I couldn't resist putting up so many pics as they're all so lovely to me and it really was very hard to choose!
We came home with a flag to wave and a Bertie Bus and neither have really left his hands the whole time since. He was shattered and fell very soundly asleep!

A first go on a funfair type ride - look at the joy on his face...
I had the privilege whilst we were out to run into my Year 5 teacher and got the chance to chat and thank her for all her help and for making learning so much fun back then (I still remember the books we read as a class, the experiments we did and much of the curriculum too). Funny how much one person can become imprinted on your life at such a young age. I hope my boys have someone like that for them too.

Vroom vroom...

Do you remember the days when you had something as fun as this to play with? I do, I still remember with fondness the cars and garage at playgroup and this play mat is no different with it's repeating pattern and slightly strange road markings (no-one gives way on this one)!

Being of a creative mind I also remember making one of these from an old dust sheet and some big felt pens for my brother.

I spent most of Thursday making a chalk board for the boys and once it's a bit nicer outside I'll get a pic (an action shot of it in use if I can). It's a chalk board on one side and a magnetic board on the other and the border is done in a glow in the dark paint, which I've yet to see glowing as the evenings are so light.

Coffee Choc Creation...

Coffee Sponge, Buttercream filling and crumb coating, Chocolate Fondant covered and fondant details - yummy! No particular reason for this one, just because I felt like it and wanted to try out my new 7" heart shaped sandwich tins (they worked brilliantly and were very non-stick).

All ruffled up...

A new knit and one that has sparked my imagination again - whether it's because I'm now staying up a bit later as the little ones go to bed, but I'm getting through bigger knits a bit more quickly again and don't feel badly when I see my knitting bag next to the chair all lonely and waiting for me to pick it up.

I've just received an order of new yarn from Kemps (59p and 89p per ball can't be bad) and already cast on another project. I'll have to put it straight back down as didn't really want to have more than one project per craft going at a time - I especially don't want to jinx my current will power to complete all that I start as well!

No pics today but hopefully in a few short weeks.

Stumpy Part 1...

Sugarpaste bumble bee and robin.
An 8" sponge base and 7" top to make the trunk, covered with sugarpaste and chocolate fondant. Crumb coated with buttercream.
In collaboration with the best sisterro a girl could ask for - we set about decorating the sponge cake I made earlier for our Dads birthday so here is a taster of the individual parts. Full pic to follow on 13th.

Wintry FO...

Here are the photos of the long distance KAL which seems was just me in the end - but the contact and reply gave me the commitment to finish both items off without 3 months between starting them, getting waylaid and finally completing.
The yarn was delicious to use but both patterns fell a little short of what I was hoping to show the yarn off with (although I love what simple seed stitch above has turned out like). My fault, but I still have two garments to wear the next time we have a hailstorm like yesterdays (in APRIL?)!!

Easter Treats...

I love to give just love love love it! And although I seemed to be thinking about these for ages, I enjoyed every minute of the planning, purchasing and preparing these for their intended recipients! Each basket had something sweet to eat, sweet to make and a sweet surprise too.
I know there are other reasons for celebrating Easter but for me they are just the reason behind why we make sure we see family or we step outside to see how Spring is changing our world. And, for me, that is what's most important - that we stop for a second and see how growth is affecting us all!

A little something that's all sweet but no sugar for the boys...
